Aims:
Students gain an understanding of the postmodern context of contemporary psychological, sociological and biological knowledge useful for social work, with a special emphasis being laid on four subject areas: the psycho-socio-biology of cognition, the social-psychological concepts of standpoints (stereotypes, prejudices, stigmas) and social influence (power, control), the basics of the family psychology and sociology, and different issues on contemporary family in Slovenia. In tutorials students develop a sensitivity for the psychological in social work (communication skills – listening, summarising, recording and reporting, role-play, work on oneself, in a couple, in groups of three, in small groups, non-verbal communication, creative media in social work, team problem-solving, family communication patterns; relaxation and visualisation, rules/messages for life, family tree and family statues).
